Grameen Karyakartha Abyaspeeth
(Learning Centre for Rural Activists) 1993


The youth of Marathawada invited DK for capacity building inputs in people’s organization and development support organization building process. Thus started our work in Nanded district first, then spread to Latur and Parbhani, In the course of this interaction came forward the need for Grameen Karyakartha Abyaspeeth in Marathawada. It was then that our divisional office in Marathawada was set up.

Ever since, animator training for inexperienced activists, survey research methodology, management training for organization heads, women activists training, women leadership program for mahila mandal leaders and elected gram panchayat functionaries and team building and perspective building for People’s Organisations leadership have been organised. Alongside, campaign for gender justice, value education and effective local self-governance is undertaken. A full-fledged library, AV unit is created for rural activists learning.

Sant Kabir Vidyalaya (High School for Rural Children) 1989

In 1989 it was realized that children’s educational system needed to be tapped to provide a progressive value education and thus Sant Kabir Vidyalaya was started in 1989 at Pimpalgaon, Biloli-Nanded. It is recognized and aided by the State government today. The schools caters to 15 villages and has classes from 5th to 10th standards. It has 216 students, of them 81 are girls.
